Overwatch has been out for well over a year and a half now, and yet the massively-popular first-person shooter has showed now signs of slowing down as Blizzard is looking ahead to the next year and what's in store for Overwatch fans.

Blizzard Entertainment has released a new Developer Update video featuring game director Jeff Kaplan as he recaps the updates and new content that has come to Overwatch players in 2017, while also giving some insights and a look into what will be in store for players throughout the next year as the team is "fired up" to continue adding on to the game.

Specifically, Kaplan explained that the first new content to arrive will be the introduction of Overwatch League skins, along with the beginning of the "BlizzardWorld" event (and its special Blizzard-themed skins) that will be coming "very soon."

In addition to these, players in the new year can also expect "a lot of stuff" in the works from Blizzard such as the game's next hero character (and potentially more beyond that), new maps, more events, and more story-oriented content that will explore more of the character's backstories, such as new animated shorts and more.

Overwatch is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC - for a closer look at the game's incoming content, you can check out the latest Developer Update video below:
