Today, Blizzard Entertainment announced the Overwatch League Stage Playoffs will now include four qualifying teams instead of three; this change will be implemented in Stage 3.

How will this change the current state of the Stage Playoffs? For one, the top-seeded team will no longer get the first round bye, guaranteeing their spot in the Stage Finals. However, they will now get the added benefit of choosing who they face in the first round. This choice is made once the top four teams are locked in. Additionally, the change will allow more teams a chance to compete in the Stage Finals.

Besides that, everything about the Stage Playoffs is the same. They will still occur on the last Sunday of each stage, tiebreaker rules for qualification will be the same, and the winning team will still earn the $100,000 cash prize with the runner-up receiving $25,000.

Stage 3 of the Overwatch League begins this Wednesday, April 4, and end on May 5.

In other Overwatch related news, the game's Uprising event will return on April 10 where you'll be able to play the PvE-focused mode, King's Row Uprising, and earn limited-time rewards.
