Sigma will soon be the 31st hero released for Overwatch, Blizzard's ultra-popular hero shooter. We don't know much about what Sigma's moveset will actually be yet, but we did get a quick glimpse into his backstory via today's "Origin Story" trailer. Give it a watch below.

As seen in the trailer, Sigma is an "eccentric astrophysicist" who is working to harness the power of gravity. Unfortunately, while working with black holes it seems like Sigma has been split into either two people or two personalities. It's not completely clear from the short trailer, but we should know more over the coming weeks.

What we do know is that, at the end of the trailer, Sigma takes on his ultimate form. This burly, armored-up character seems to point to him being a member of the tank class, which should make his gravity-based kit very interesting. It also seems like he is part of the Talon organization, a team of terrorists in the Overwatch fiction. He joins Moira, Doomfist, Reaper, Widowmaker, and Sombra as members of Talon that are on the Overwatch roster.

Sigma's announcement comes in the wake of recent news that Blizzard will be implementing a role queue system. They also recently added the Workshop system. Both of those additions should go a long way to bringing players to Overwatch and adding a new hero at the same time seems like a very smart idea.

We should learn more about Sigma's kit over the next few weeks. If we use Baptiste's release as a guide, Sigma will likely be out in August. Potentially right at the end of the current summer event that ends August 5.

Overwatch is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
