Blizzard has announced that a double XP weekend event for its massively popular hero based shooter Overwatch will begin today on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

The event starts today at 5PM PST and runs through Monday, June 12 at 11:59PM PST. The special event will be made available to players on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Blizzard has stated that double xp will be granted for almost everything including; finishing a match, completing multiple matches in succession, earning medals, group bonuses, time spent in a match, backfilling a match in progress and winning matches. The only thing not receiving a double xp boost is the first win of the day bonus which will remain at 1500XP.

A new map was also announced for Overwatch last week. The map which is currently available to play right now in the Overwatch Public Test Realm will take players into space. Dubbed "Horizon Lunar Colony", the exciting new map will bring a new mechanic to the game in the form of low gravity.

Lastly, the Year One Anniversary event in Overwatch is nearing its end and will officially end on June 12. Make sure you take advantage of the double xp boost this weekend so you can rack up as many Anniversary loot crates as possible.
