inscOne of the best thing about developer Blizzard Entertainment's Overwatch is the ability of develops to incorporate foreign locales in the mix of locations for maps. And fans of Jordian history will be thrilled with the inclusion of "Petra," the upcoming Deathmatch map for Overwatch that got its first real reveal with a dedicated trailer. While we don't know when the map will be added to the massively popular multiplayer game's lineup, it's hard not to get excited by the on-point visuals.

Seen in the Petra trailer below, the map looks like something ripped out of an Indiana Jones movie -- and for fair reason, with the actual historical city being an inspiration to many of the movies. Located in Ma'an Governorate, Jordan, Overwatch's Petra mixes a bit of technology into the antiquity. Military equipment can be seen adorning rooms, right next to the beautiful architecture and picture-inscribed rock walls. Even better, the map doesn't get lost in a sea of sand or brown colors, Petra is lit with green and blue lights to add an ounce of color and riff of futurism.

According to the game's trailer, we are fed a quick description on how this works into Overwatch's ever-developing lore:

A group of archaeologists have begun an excavation and preservation project among the ruins of Petra, a new Deathmatch map that puts all heroes on their own, facing off against one another until one hero scores enough eliminations to win the match. Take in Petra’s majestic views, from high vistas to twisting passageways and deep caverns.

Travel along deadly cliffs, but be careful to not fall off! A dilapidated bridge stretches across the map, and the ground underneath it can crumble away to reveal a lethal pit. Hopping on a green jump pad will boost you up to Petra’s higher levels and unlock new strategic possibilities for you. . . .

This isn't the first time we've heard the term Petra in Overwatch -- in fact, it was revealed only days ago that we would be seeing this map in the near future. The addition is part of Overwatch's Anniversary 2018 event, which is incorporating a free weekend (next week) to introduce the brand new Legendary Edition -- a version of the game that comes with 15 extra skins.

Overwatch was released in 2016 and is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One if you want to pick up the game on Amazon, you can do so by clicking here. Meanwhile, check out Petra's Deathmatch trailer below:
