While Overwatch's Anniversary Event is right around the corner, players can rejoice for another reason: the start of season 5 of competitive play, or for many, time to start grinding the ladder again.
Blizzard announced that Season 4 will come to a close on May 28 and Season 5 will begin on Wednesday, May 31 at 8 p.m. EDT, 5 p.m. PDT. The rewards for Season 4 will be handed out on June 1.
If, unlike me, managed to complete your 10 placement matches you will be receiving the exclusive Season 4 icon and in-game spray, and if you managed to snag top 500 in your region, you will get another player icon and an animated spray to show the rest of the players in your match just how hard you've worked. Or you could use it to conclude your play of the game when you get a quadruple kill, up to you.
Similarly, players can expect Competitive Point (CP) rewards depending on their Skill Rating (SR) for Season 4. These CP rewards can be used to buy golden weapon skins. The tiers are as follows:
SR 1-1499 (Bronze): 100 CP
SR 1500-1999 (Silver): 200 CP
SR 2000-2499 (Gold): 400 CP
SR 2500-2999 (Platinum): 800 CP
SR 3000-3499 (Diamond): 1200 CP
SR 3500-3999 (Master): 2000 CP
SR 4000-5000 (Grandmaster): 3000 CP
