Orisa, the defence droid turned tank has a good variety of abilities that keep her even on the battlefield within Overwatch. Her fusion driver gun has a large magazine of 150 bullets, while her alternate fire will shoot a bubble that can suck people into it like a smaller graviton surge. Orisa's fortification makes her steady and hard to damage.

Then she has a shield she can place down to protect the team. In Overwatch 2 Orisa is getting one of the biggest reworks, so today we'll also implement her future changes that will be placed into Overwatch 2.

10 10/10 Know Your Counters

Genji holds his shuriken in Hanamura.

Knowing when Orisa will be at a disadvantage is important for team composition and unfortunately, a hero change if the team cannot help. The heroes ahead tend to be bothersome to Orisa and pose serious danger.

  • Tracer- Too fast and hard to hit for Orisa. Orisa's lack of mobility will affect her negatively against these types of characters.
  • Genji- The same as Tracer, he's simply too mobile for her.
  • Reaper- He's the tank killer for a reason. He does too much damage at close range to have a chance.
  • Sombra- Again to mobile and her hack will stop Orisa's fortify which is her best defence.
  • Widowmaker- She can hit Orisa at long range and Orisa does little damage after medium range.
  • Hanzo- Same as Widowmaker, Orisa stands a small chance against range.
  • Bastion- His turret mode can't be sucked in by halt, his turret tears through the defence of her fortify and shields. Bastions is Orisa's worst nightmare.
  • Pharah- Pharah has too much range and mobility for Orisa to fight back against.

9 9/10 Who Does Orisa Counter

Winston posing for Overwatch

When these heroes appear on the other end, it may end up being the perfect game for Orisa to shine. When coming up against these heroes she's a certain pick and will most likely do great against an enemy team composed of these characters.

  • Reinhardt- If she fortified while he hits her with the hammer it won't hurt Orisa too much and she can out damage him.
  • Zenyatta- An easy target for Orisa as even with a discord orb on she can fortify and take less damage.
  • Lucio- He's mobile, but his boops off maps can't be done when Orisa is fortified and his actual attacks aren't strong enough to do serious damage to her.
  • Doomfist- In her fortified mode, he can't knock her back or lift her in the air making for a massive mismatch for Doomfist.
  • Winston- He needs to get close and Orisa can easily beat Winston at this range.
  • Torbjorn- His turrets won't hurt Orisa if she places down a shield and she can do easy damage to Torbjorn since he needs to be at medium range to do proper damage.

8 8/10 Don't Wait To Fortify

Orisa using fortify after being hit by Ana's grenade

This ability makes Orisa extremely hard to kill and she can't be booted by the likes of Lucio or moved by Roadhogs whole hog. So she'll hold her own space fine while she is fortified. It has a decent cooldown of ten seconds, still, it leaves Orisa far harder to kill and will often force enemies to move away as Orisa is too hard to kill in her fortified mode. Using it consistently gives her the best chance of surviving.

7 7/10 Get The Most Out of Your Shields

Orisa using her shield in training

Don't just throw down a shield where you're standing and shoot from there. Help push with it. Bring it closer to the point and help your team get a better chance of a successful push. Also, do not waste the shields. Try to get the most out of them. You can see the health left on them unless it's getting torn apart or getting below 100hp replace it, but don't put down a new one unless you're moving a decent bit ahead.

6 6/10 Don't Stop Shooting

With such a large magazine and a shield in front why stop shooting? Don't bother with stat accuracy for Orisa. Constantly shooting at the enemy will ensure that either a small amount of damage is done to them or else they'll have to avoid Orisa altogether. Very few characters will be able to challenge and the only way to go about it is to possibly flank Orisa which she will have to be ready for.

5 5/10 Use Halt Smartly

Orisa in a play of the game pose

Halt has several uses. Like a mini graviton surge, it will connect enemies to the small green ball Orisa shoots out. The best scenario is making an enemy fall off the map using halt but that can prove rather difficult. Instead, the most efficient way is to bring enemies closer or even separate enemies and make it more of a 1v1 situation.

Another example would be enemies rushing you and getting behind your shield. Using halt could place them back behind your shield giving you the advantage again.

4 4/10 Protect Your Healers

Orisa protects her team as Zenyatta uses tranquillity

Orisa is one of the few tanks that need a healer close by due to her lack of mobility. Getting to health packs isn't easy as Orisa so healers are a must. Your job is to protect them as much as possible by making sure there's always a shield in front of them. Using halt for an enemy attack getting too close to your healer will also give them better chances of surviving.

3 3/10 Have A Healer With You

Mercy from Overwatch

Unfortunately, since Orisa is one of the least mobile tanks she needs someone close at all times. The best heroes would be Ana, Baptiste or a Mercy that can consistently heal large chunks of missing health. Ana could even nano boost Orisa on top of her own ultimate making her a defensive and offensive help to Orisa, the same goes for Baptiste's barrier ultimate. This ties in with protecting your healers, so it works both ways as they help you and you protect them.

2 2/10 Combine Your Ultimate

Orisa using supercharge

Orisa's supercharge gives everyone that's close enough a damage boost like Mercy's. This is deadly with a combination. Giving this to anyone during their ultimate will greatly benefit them and the team.

For example, Soldier 76 would tear through enemies or shields far quicker giving him more time to make use of his ultimate. However, make sure to place the supercharger behind a shield as it can be destroyed by the enemy team.

1 1/10 The Rework

Orisa posing

Orisa is changing quite a bit. Her halt and supercharge ultimate will be things of the past. Even her fusion cannons are changing to an overheating system than 150 bullets mags. However, she will still play similar except with improvements. Her ultimate will be changed to an AoE attack that charges its power. It's more offensive and helped get enemies out of an area quicker.

She gained a javelin which is now her alternate fire instead and it can stun an enemy quickly and does a small amount of damage. Her best improvement is her javelin spin. This will negate any attack coming to her and can be used to help save teammates or even stop enemy ultimates. It's similar to Genji's deflect, without returning the damage.
