"It's the most wonderful time of the year, and we hope you'll join us for some holiday cheer!"

Since its release in May earlier this year, the game's attracted tons of fans who've celebrated the holidays of the year with its various seasonal events, so having something in time for the Christmas holiday season seems like no brainer.

Reports of the event were first rumored last month, as the r/Overwatch subreddit (via Reddit user Venxa) revealed a Christmas-themed music track from a data mine of the game’s latest update files.

Blizzard's multiplayer shooter won the coveted Game of the Year award during this year's The Game Awards 2016 and is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
