Overwatch’s New Hero Sigma Now Available on All Platforms

Save the world today with the latest Hero to join Overwatch.

Blizzard announced today that the newest Overwatch hero Sigma is now available to play on all platforms. Sigma is the 31st hero in the roster for the game. He is the second hero to be added so far this year following Baptiste back in March.

In July, the character was introduced along with an origin story trailer. Sigma, also known as Dr. Siebren de Kuiper, is an astrophysicist who gains the power to control gravity after an experiment goes awry.

With the announcement was a new trailer showing the new hero in action. As a tank, Sigma has a variety of different abilities. He carries two hyperspheres which he can throw at enemies and deal damage. Similarly to Symmetra, he has a barrier that shoots outward block enemy fire and projectiles. When using his kinetic grasp, Sigma can convert enemy damage into shields for himself. With his accretion ability, he throws debris at enemies knocking them down. Sigma’s ultimate move, Gravitic Flux, allows him to lift all enemies in a wide radius up into the air before slamming them back down.

In a future update, Overwatch will be adding Role Queue. This will require each team to have two heroes of each class. With the addition of Sigma and the implementation of Role Queue, it will be interesting to see how different the game will play during the next season of Overwatch League. I like to play Zarya and with her using gravity as a weapon similar to Sigma, I hope to hear some witty banter between the two.

Overwatch has been one of the biggest games of this generation. We found the game to be a “master class” of the multiplayer genre. It also won Game of the Year at The Game Awards in 2016. You can purchase Overwatch on Amazon if you haven’t already.
