A few days ago Don’t Starve developer Klei announced that it would be bringing its latest title, Oxygen Not Included, to Steam Early Access.

Anyone who purchased Oxygen Not Included in its alpha state will not have to purchase the game for a second time once it hits Early Access. Furthermore anybody who owns any Klei developed title will receive a 20 percent “loyalty discount” on Oxygen Not Included.

Klei released the game’s alpha quietly on Steam back in February. Since then the developer said that over 100,000 people participated in the alpha.

“First off, we would like to extend a major thanks for the amazing community response to the Oxygen Not Included Alpha. When we released the game on the forums we’d hoped for a few dozen people to try it out and give feedback, but instead over a hundred thousand of you played the game. This was the best surprise we could have received.”

This is a very high number for an indie developer. Although Early Access is coming, the developer said that this does not mean the game is coming out anytime soon, and there’s a good amount of things they’d still like to add.

Oxygen Not Included will be available on Steam Early Access on May 18 for $25 USD with Mac and Linux support to follow at a later date. No console versions of the game are currently planned.
