OZombie By American McGee's Alice Creators Is A Warped, Zombie-Filled Take On the Wizard of Oz
The creators behind American McGee’s Alice have teamed up with Spicy Horse Games to deliver another deliciously warped version of a beloved fairy tale. This time they’re reinventing the classic Wizard of Oz novels by L. Frank Baum into a dark steampunk horror called OZombie.
This Wizard of Oz world stars the great-great granddaughter of Dorothy as she takes refuge in the Land of Oz from a world on the brink of ecological and societal collapse. However, this Dorothy finds that Oz is suffering it’s own crisis: the Scarecrow has been taking over the land and using the OZombies’ siren song to turn the residents into mindless puppets. Scarecrow already killed one of the Immortals, Kern the Master Husbandman and god of farming. He’s now trying to kill the other Immortals (Ak, the Master Woodman and Bo, the Master Mariner) in order to turn Oz into a society where creativity, passion and imagination are evil and should be repressed and happiness comes from conformity.
American McGee and his long time partner RJ Berg is working with Spicy Horse, their indie game studio in Shanghai, to develop OZombie for PC, Mac and tablets. So far the Kickstarter fund is at $4,584 and McGee must raise $950,000 in 41 days in order for their campaign to be successful. If you would like to contribute, go here.
