Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth Review — Charting Greatness

Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth for Nintendo 3DS is another solid entry into the map-making, dungeon crawler series by Atlus.

While not every game in the Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS lineup has fully utilized the second screen, no series has better or more consistently emphasized the possibilities than Etrian Odyssey. Playing to the insatiable nerdiness of building a detailed map while you explore dungeons, no other series speaks to the inner Dungeons & Dragons player in me to the same degree. And, in that sense, Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth is a continuation of the niche-but-loyal lineage....

Tower 57 Perfectly Channels the Spirit of Retro Amiga Titles

Amiga amore.

Crowdfunded games based off of nostalgic retro titles can be very hit or miss nowadays. For every charming game that delivers on its promises like A Hat in Time, there are titles like the ill-fated Mighty No. 9 that end up underwhelming and disappointing. Tower 57 from Pixwerk and 11 Bit Studios is inspired by top-down Amiga shooters such as Alien Breed and The Chaos Engine, and was successfully funded on KickStarter by 1,984 backers for a total of €51,504 back in 2015. ...

Second Opinion — How is One Piece: Unlimited World Red Deluxe Edition on Nintendo Switch?

Second Opinion — How is One Piece: Unlimited World Red Deluxe Edition on Nintendo Switch?

by

on October 14, 2017 3:33 PM

One Piece: Unlimited World Red Deluxe Edition on Switch is easily the best way to experience the adventure game following the Straw Hat crew. Whether it's on-the-go or docked, there's plenty of things that'll keep you busy in the game.

My first experience with One Piece: Unlimited World Red was actually with the PS Vita version of the game back when it came out exclusively at GameStop back in 2014. If you're unfamiliar with the game, it's basically a beat-em-up with some very minor RPG mechanics based on the iconic anime/manga series. And while the game was reviewed by DualShockers on Nintendo 3DS, I was excited to give the game another go on stronger hardware thanks to the latest ...

Okami Getting Re-Released On Current-Gen Platforms is a Shot at Reviving the Franchise

Okami Getting Re-Released On Current-Gen Platforms is a Shot at Reviving the Franchise

by

on October 14, 2017 11:00 AM

One of the best games of 2006, Okami is getting another shot on the open market at the end of this year. Hopefully, the fourth go-around will reignite the series.

Capcom subsidiary Clover Studio was only around for less than three years since its formation. Although God Hand would be their last game before officially closing their doors and Viewtiful Joe was the studio's longest-running series, it would be the 2006 action-adventure title Okami that would often be considered their best game....

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Videogame Review — Light-Hearted Fun

The Toy The TV Show The Movie The Videogame

What is a "Ninjago"? After my fifteen hours with TT Games' The LEGO Ninjago Movie Videogame I'm still not fully certain. Is it the ninja-themed LEGO characters? Or perhaps the island, conveniently also named "Ninjago." Or is it referring to their occasional "Ninja! GO!" cheer you can hear the characters echo before a major battle.

Either way, I like it....
