Panzer Dragoon Voyage Record Announced for VR Platforms
Panzer Dragoon Voyage Record will include stages recreated in VR from Sega Saturn games Panzer Dragoon, Panzer Dragoon Zwei, and Panzer Dragoon Saga.
March 10, 2020, marks the 25th anniversary of the first Panzer Dragoon game on Sega Saturn. On this symbolic date, Wildman Inc. announced Panzer Dragoon Voyage Record (tentative title), a VR Panzer Dragoon game that includes various stages from three Sega Saturn games of the series: Panzer Dragoon, Panzer Dragoon Zwei, and Panzer Dragoon Saga.
Panzer Dragoon Voyage Record uses a first-person view optimized for a VR headset and VR controllers. The game will only be playable in VR. While Voyage Record isn’t a full VR port of the three beforementioned Panzer Dragon games, it will feature updated graphics. The screenshot above is in-development.

The Panzer Dragoon VR official Twitter most notably explained how the Blue Dragon (TYPE-01) appearing in the game was made by Hunyun of KSDesignLab, who 3D scanned a Garage Kit figurine made by Yoshikazu Yamamoto (Nashinokiya). He’s one of the artists who regularly expose Panzer Dragoon garage kits at Wonder Festivals twice a year.

Nashinokiya was ecstatic to share the news on Twitter.
The list of the stages included in Panzer Dragoon Voyage Record and the game’s platforms will be announced at a later date. Panzer Dragoon VR will launch in the 2020 Japanese fiscal year, which ends on the last day of March 2021. The game will be priced at 6900 Yen (tax excluded) in Japan.
Wildman Inc. is both the developer and published of Panzer Dragoon Voyage Record, licensed by Sega. For a few years now, Winldman Inc. is also developing The Gunner of Dragoon, a VR game similar to Panzer Dragoon. You can find a gameplay video of it below.
This is such an obvious VR adaptation choice of a Sega classic that I was initially pretty surprised when it realized it doesn’t exist yet. Along with the newly released Space Channel 5 VR, this is definitely the kind of game that makes me actually consider buying expensive VR equipment.
The first Panzer Dragoon game is also getting a remake. It was first announced back in 2018 and a first trailer was revealed at E3 2019. The official Panzer Dragoon Remake Twitter account regularly shares artwork and in-development footage of the game.
