Papers, Please Creator Announces Return Of The Obra Dinn, Image and Plot Released

Lucas Pope, creator of Papers, Please, has has announced his next game, Return of the Obra Dinn, as well as few details.

Pope took to Twitter to announced the 3D first-person mystery game. As you can see from the tweet below, the game is a black and white rendering recreating Pope’s  “nostalgia-softened spot.”

Obra Dinn will take place in 1808 when the merchant ship the Obra Dinn, which was declared lost at sea six years prior, shows up at the Cape of Good Hope with no crew and damaged sails. Players take on the role of an insurance adjustor for the East India Company’s London Office as they seek out the captain’s logbook for assessment.

As explained on TIGSource Forum, the game will be very different compared to the other games he’s created.

There’ll be less creativity with the gameplay and instead I want to experiment with the rendering, story, and a few technical features.

A release date as well as the game’s platform have yet to be released.
