Lucas Pope, the developer behind Papers, Please published the first trailer for his new game Return of the Obra Dinn after revealing the plot and title over four years ago and it sure does look fascinating.

At the beginning of the trailer, I immediately took note of the visuals. What was described as "minimal color" in the description of the video, the game is completely in black and white. However, it is not just your typical black and white. To me, it looked as the minimalistic art style was really taken to heart. You can see stars in the night, but they are just dots in a vast black sky. The minimal design gave off a very ominous feeling that I was super into.

Return of the Obra Dinn will take place in 1808 when a damaged ship named the Obra Dinn, which was lost at sea for over six years, arrives at the Cape of Good Hope with nobody on it. Players will play as an insurance adjuster for the East India Company's office in London as they are investigating the weird case of the ship.

Return of the Obra Dinn has no official release date. You can view the new trailer below.
