At PSX 2016, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced an initiative that would remaster some classic Sony titles for PS4. This eventually led to Parappa the Rapper, LocoRoco and Patapon all getting remastered for PS4 in 2017. Then, at PSX 2o17 Sony decided to confirm that Patapon 2 would be remastered as well. Of course, fans were excited for Patapon 2 Remastered, but it soon fell off the face of the earth, until now.

Patapon 2 Remastered was supposed to release in 2018, which was quite a great year for Sony, but that ultimately never came to be. The remaster soon fell off the face of the earth, with only the occasional callout from Kinda Funny's Greg Miller keeping Patapon 2 relevant. With PS5 on the horizon, it became unclear if we would ever see Patapon 2 Remastered released. Then, a listing for it appeared in late December before it finally reemerged today on PlayStation Blog with a new trailer and confirmed release date of January 30.

Funnily enough, Producer Nick Accordino barely mentions the remaster's lengthy delay in that post, only acknowledging it with the opening line "Patient members of the Patapon tribe, your rhythmic calls and chants have been answered!" He then goes into more detail about the remaster, confirming that this is still a full 4K remaster and revealing that it will only cost $14.99. The game contains over 30 missions and is a really unique mix of rhythm and action, so it is definitely worth checking out if even if you've never played it before.

The wait for Patapon 2 Remastered's PS4 release will finally be over on January 30. You can check out some screenshots from the remaster below.
