Grinding Gear Games free-to-play ode to Diablo II, Path of Exile, now has over seven million registered users. The partnership with leading Asian publisher Garena Online has certainly helped, with the game launching in Taiwan and generating over one million new accounts in under a month.

The increased numbers of accounts also saw a record-breaking number of concurrent players, reaching a peak of 154,000 players online simultaneously. Continued support for the loot focused dungeon crawler in free expansions like Sacrifice of the Vaal and the recently release Forsaken Masters have made it a popular hit, especially with its friendly free-to-play system that only provides cosmetics microtransactions.

The Forsaken Masters expansion lets players cross paths with the seven Forsaken Masters, with each Master offering unique quests, training, mission variations, item crafting and modification options and more. One of the key features was the addition of customizable player housing system called Hideouts. New Challenge Leagues, revamped boss fights, a PvP Spectator Mode and dozens of other tweaks round out one impressive expansion, especially considering it is entirely free.

Those interested in playing Path of Exile can do so on Steam, or by registering on the official Path of Exile website.
