In the newest video from Overkill Software and 505 Games's Payday 2, game director David Goldfarb walks us through the "Dynamics System," which you can view below, and just why having it can drastically alter the game to make replayability engaging and unpredictable.

While only mildly touched upon when announced, Goldfarb has made it clear that Payday 2 wants to keep players on their toes, so that memorized maps are a thing of that past. For example, play a mission once, and you may be seen by a security guard. The second time there may be two guards in that spot, or none at all, but a woman looking out her window at what you're doing. Cameras, items or even doors can also be shifted to ramp up unpredictability if the system deems it necessary. Or, if you mess up enough, you may end up in an "Escape" mission, on a completely different map, where you are challenged with escaping a difficult situation until your escape vehicle or route appears.

As Goldfarb puts it: "Dynamics give people moments to remember when they play... and that's what, you know, we want to give people as many of those as we can."

Payday 2 is set to release next week to the PS3 Xbox 360 digitally and through retailers, and to the PC via Steam. For more on the franchise, check out DualShockers’ Payday news.
