Overkill Software and Starbreeze Studios have rung in the new year with style by posting a new teaser trailer for Payday 3 over on the game's official Twitter account.

At the stroke of midnight, just as all of mainland Europe was lifting a glass to 2023 and waving goodbye to 2022, the official Payday 3 Twitter account posted a brand-new teaser trailer for the game, as well as a link to the Payday 3 Steam page where the game can now be added to players wishlists.

The trailer brings the camera back, revealing the whole scene before fading to black. Then, the words "this is year of" fade into the black background, followed by the Payday 3 logo. As far as teases go, it's up there, and fans, while happy to hear anything Payday 3-related, will be disappointed to not see actual gameplay yet.

The new trailer also comes with the reiteration that Payday 3 will release in 2023 on PC and consoles, though at the time of writing, Payday 3 only has a store page on the Steam platform and nowhere else. And, for those hoping that the Steam page would reveal some new, previously unknown details, such as the game's system requirements, there's no such luck.

It's been a long road to Payday 3. The original game was released way back in 2011 as a console exclusive for PS3, and it also saw a release on PC. The sequel, Payday 2, was released in 2013 for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, and then went on to receive next-gen ports on PS4 and Xbox One. However, while the PC version of Payday 2 was well received and continues to maintain a loyal player base, the console versions were left to rot. With a laundry list of bugs and glitches, and a lack of update support from the developer, the console version essentially died out years ago, leaving players in the cold.

Payday 3 was announced back in 2016 with Koch Media (now called Plaion) being brought on for publishing duties. Since the initial announcement, updates on the game's development have been few and far between, though, with the promise of a 2023 release date, fans will surely get to see more of the game sooner rather than later.
