Perfect Time to Sell a PlayStation 3

By François Chang

July 1, 2010

Not too long ago, I wrote a piece about my experience trading in my broken down Xbox 360 for an awesome sum of $125. Now, GameStop is offering $200 on any PlayStation 3 traded in from now until July 18, 2010. This is the ideal offer for those who would like to upgrade their PlayStation 3 at a relatively low price, or are maybe thinking about jumping over to the Xbox 360 or Wii side of gaming. And of course, this could also be a great deal for people who just want a few more games or dollars in their pocket.

It is funny to note that the GameStop website has no new standalone PlayStation 3s available. All the PlayStation 3s are either bundled or used. A friend of mine had a hard time finding a standalone system not too long ago, so you may have to get lucky if you plan to trade in your old 40 GB PS3 for an $100 upgrade.

If you have been thinking about getting rid of your PS3 for whatever reason, this should be the perfect opportunity. With $200 in GameStop credit, you can pretty much get any of the other systems on the market today. Not too shabby.
