Perfect World Entertainment Announces new MMORPG Fantasy Condor Heroes

Perfect World Entertainment has proven very prolific in publishing new MMORPGs and they don’t seem to be planning to stop anytime soon. Today the Chinese publisher and developer announced the upcoming release of Fantasy Condor Heroes, a cartoon-style 2D turn-based martial arts MMORPG based on the extremely popular (in Asia) novel Return of the Condor Heroes by Louis Cha (also known by his pen name Jin Yong).

The original novel is the second part of the Condor trilogy. It’s local popularity can be easily gauged by the fact that it’s been adapted into three movies, eight TV series and an Anime series co-produced by Nippon Animation and the Chinese studio Jade.

If you’re wondering, the picture above is not from the game, but from one of the movies I just mentioned, since there are no screenshots available yet.

According to the press release the game will involve “beautiful scenery, dazzling character skills, cute graphics and dramatic storyline” in addition to “special features such as dream-extraction plots and refreshing skill sets” .

The presence of romance in the storyline is also mentioned, which is not surprising considering that the original saga is very focused on romance.

No release dates have been specified, either for the Asian market or the Western one.
