Dengeki PlayStation magazine recently interviewed Katsura Hashino, the director of Persona 4, and do you know what he had to say? It is good news, Persona fans! While we've had rumors for a while that there was a Persona 5 in the works, I suppose we can take this as confirmation that there will indeed be a new title in the series, even though there is no official confirmation from Atlus. Hashino, in the interview, said "we are preparing to start work on the next persona". Frankly, that's all I need to know, I'd pre-order right this moment if I could.
