I pretty much figured the Atlus teaser site with the yellow - or golden - back ground was a dead giveaway that they were remaking Persona 4 for a portable system. I even kind of expected it to be for the PlayStation Vita, as we hinted at in our ShockCast last week. It turns out all that is true - Persona 4: The Golden is a remake of Persona 4 for the PS Vita, which will include a lot of new content, mostly in the form of a new character and much more voiced dialog.

There's also supposed to be support for the Vita's online capabilities, somehow intertwining with your excursions into the dungeons of the game, calling on friends for help if you have issues dealing with them. Finally, there's a new opening movie and various new movies throughout the game that, hopefully, expand upon the story more than the sparse anime sequences in the PS2 iteration did.

It looks like Persona 4: The Golden is slated for a Spring 2012 release in Japan and, if the past is any indication, Atlus USA will be more than happy to bring it to the West for our greedy little gamer hands. Can anyone say system seller? I'd buy a PS Vita just for this. Seriously.
