After it was revealed that Joker would be the first DLC character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, many people are quietly (read "loudly") wondering if we will see a Persona 5 port to Nintendo Switch. Nintendo America's president, Reggie Fils-Aime may not be able to say yet, but his vague response certainly leaves the door open.

Speaking to publication IGNFils-Aime was asked whether we could be expecting a Persona 5 port to Nintendo Switch. Of course, this kind of question is normally a shot in the dark given that developers would save those bombshell announcements for major events or (in Nintendo's case) a Nintendo Direct. Specifically, Fils-Aime said:

You know, I can't comment on that.

However, this is far from shutting the door entirely. Instead, he seemed to go on an open call saying that they are looking for the "best games and best developers" for Nintendo Switch, and he's hoping developers note the opportunity:

And so our job is to continue growing the install base for Nintendo Switch to drive engagement of our players, to grow the audience. As that happens, then developers see the opportunity.

While on the surface this sounds like stock PR talk, this is exactly the kind of door-holding we've seen from Fils-Aime in past statements. In other words, it isn't entirely out of the question, but there is enough plausible deniability in case it doesn't work out in the long term.

In case you missed it, the rumor mill has been turning ever since Persona 5's protagonist, Joker, was revealed to be part of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's roster. Showcased in arguably the best trailer of The Game Awards 2018, he will be taking the spot of the first DLC fighter in the

It wouldn't be totally unusual for developer Atlus to work with Nintendo. There have been more than a few Shin Megami Tensei and Persona games that have made it to Nintendo platforms.

Persona 5 is currently available exclusively on PS3 and PS4, and available for purchase on Amazon. If you are looking to get your Nintendo Switch fix of Joker, feel free to pre-emptively pick up Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Amazon.
