Atlus revealed on September 10 the opening animation sequence for Persona 5 Royal. Just check it out then we'll move on to commentary.

Atlus has recently revealed Persona 5 Royal's new title screen, along with new features regarding the Velvet Room, so a reveal of the opening sequence was imminent. Japanese games with opening sequences nearly always reveal them before release, and it was the case with the original Persona 5 as well.

Now, on to the opening itself. While I love the original's opening sequence, one thing I was always disappointed with it, is how it only had one single scene showing Makoto, Futaba and Haru. And then Goro doesn't show up at all. Now, each member of the Phantom Thieves got plenty of screentime, with new member Kasumi getting her own solo.

The scene with the Phantom Thieves turned giant breaking the city was quite awesome too. It also seems to reference the new playable part and Palace from the end of the game. Without spoiling, you know what I'm talking about. They're all wearing their new clothes from that part as well. I'm not sure if it'll leave an impression as big as the original opening's skating scene, but it's still pretty great.

The new opening song sung by Lyn, which we already heard multiple times by now, is pretty nice in its full version. Shoji Meguro did a nice job as always. Anyway, I'm quite looking forward to Persona 5 Royal, even if I admit it's pretty expensive for what it is.

Atlus recently revealed the third full-length trailer for  Persona 5 RoyalAll of the party members got a new introduction trailer for Persona 5 Royal: Joker, KasumiRyuji, Ann, Yusuke, Makoto. Futaba, Haru, and Morgana. Goro’s trailer was shown during the game’s first live stream, where Atlus most notably talked about streaming restrictions.

Persona 5 Royal launches in a bit more than a month in Japan, on October 31. The game will is coming in Spring 2020 in the west. Persona 5 Royal is a PS4 exclusive.
