Microsoft revealed at the Xbox and Bethesda showcase on June 12, 2022, that Persona 5 Royal, Persona 3 Portable, and Persona 4 Golden are coming to Xbox and PC Windows, which paves the way for an interesting theory regarding Atlus/Sega and PlayStation's relationship.

Update: Eurogamer confirmed the three Persona games will also release on PS5 and Steam.

Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, And Persona 5 Royal Confirmed For PC, Xbox One, Game Pass, And Xbox Series X/S

Persona 3 Portable, the PSP alternate version of Persona 3 on PS2, most notably adds a playable female protagonist and quality of life improvements. Picking the female protagonist (or FeMC as she is nicknamed) also gives you access to some interesting main story changes depending on your choices. In counterpart though, Persona 3 Portable does not include the new story content that was added in Persona 3 FES, released on PS2 a few months after the original. Personally speaking, unless you plan to play as FeMC, I'd recommend playing Persona 3 FES over Persona 3 Portable.

Meanwhile, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal are the definitive versions of each game, adding several gameplay mechanics and new characters. Moreover, Persona 5 Royal will be the first game among the three to be released, on October 21, 2022.

PlayStation And Sony Likely Had A 3 Years Exclusivity Deal With Atlus And Sega For Persona 5 Royal

The release date of Persona 5 Royal on PC and Xbox is quite interesting as it's happening exactly three years after the game was first released. P5R was first released in Japan as Persona 5 The Royal on PS4 on October 31, 2019. The PC and Xbox version is meanwhile coming on October 21, 2022. It's very likely Sony and Atlus had a three years exclusivity deal, with Atlus releasing the game on Xbox as soon as the deal expires.

Atlus is also releasing its next game, Soul Hackers 2, on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Steam. So perhaps we'll see Shin Megami Tensei 5 coming to Xbox too once its exclusive deal with Nintendo runs out.

Personally speaking, I'm hoping for ports or even remakes of Persona 1, Persona 2.1 and Persona 2.2 to be released one day. The Persona series is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, and a huge concert will be happening on October 8-9 2022. it's very likely Persona 6 will be announced there alongside more surprises.
