Today at the Atlus Art Show in Los Angeles, the developer announced that Persona 5 Royal is heading to the west in Spring 2020. The art show is showcasing pieces from both the JRPG and Catherine: Full Body. Along with the showcase, Atlus is selling exclusive merchandise and popular well known food in both titles.

The new Persona title was first shown off back in March. Since then, we have learned there will be a new member to the Phantom Thieves, a new semester of school, and new gameplay on top of numerous other additions from Persona 5.

The original title came out in the west in 2017 where it later won DualShockers coveted Game of the Year. It most recently hit a landmark of hitting 2.7 million copies sold. Persona 5 Royal will release in Japan on October 31 later this year.

I have high expectations for Royal as Persona 5 was my also my personal Game of the Year in 2017 and is now one of my favorite games of all time. From everything that has been shown leading up to the Japanese launch, it looks like it will be even better.

If you haven’t played Persona 5 yet I highly recommend it. It is also available right now on Amazon for cheap under the Playstion Hits label. With the number of differences that Royal looks to have compared to the original, I’d consider Persona 5 still worth playing if you have the time for it.

Persona 5 Royal will be exclusive to PS4 once it drops here in the west.
