UPDATE: The actual release date for Persona 5 Royal has now been divulged and it's due out in March 2020. You can read more about this news here.

Atlus is set to make an announcement tomorrow regarding the release of Persona 5 Royal in western territories, but it seems as though a new leak may have beat them to the punch.

As seen on the PlayStation Store in both Indonesia and Taiwan, the release date for what is labeled as the English/Chinese version of Persona 5 Royal has appeared on each store's respective page. The release date in question has the game set to launch on February 20, 2020, in both regions. Considering this is the English version of the game that would be released in all western territories, it is then safe to assume that this date would likely apply to other regions such as North America and Europe as well.

Likely the only potential issue with this release date is that February 20 of 2020 falls on a Thursday, a day of the week in which game releases almost never happen. The most common days of the week in which games often release are Tuesday and Friday. Typically, if a "leaked" release date has a game planned to arrive on any other day of the week, the leak often turns out to be false.

That said, there is a possibility that this western version of Persona 5 Royal could have a staggered release around the world. Some games often release in certain territories earlier in a given week before then coming to other regions a few days later. Will this happen in this instance? I have no idea, but I'm just trying to make sense of this leaked date.

Regardless of what the truth ends up being, we likely won't have to wait too long to find out. Atlus is set to reveal more about Persona 5 Royal tomorrow on December 3. We'll be sure to share that news with you here on DualShockers once it ends up going live.
