Peter Molyneux Leaving Microsoft and Lionhead Studios

The man known for his hand in the development of the Fable series and his often exaggerated — yet notoriously quotable — speeches has announced that he’s leaving Microsoft and Lionhead Studios for a new venture titled 22 Cans. He told Kotaku that he’s wrapping up work on Fable: The Journey before leaving the studio he co-founded. But there’s no sour grapes here. Quite the contrary.

“I remain extremely passionate and proud of the people, products and experiences that we created,” he said.

Microsoft has also acknowledged Monyleux’s contributions to the company’s games division, saying he’s made an “indelible mark ” on the industry. So the guy’s still making games. He just won’t be making them specifically for Microsoft anymore.
