Speaking to IGN, Phil Spencer confirmed that the popular MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV will not be coming to Xbox One anytime soon. The head of Xbox stated that he prefers to work out aspects of a game to be exclusive to the Xbox One instead of the entire game itself, such as the Fallout 4 mods which were announced at E3 2015. This mentality has an exception, such as instances like Rise of the Tomb Raider, where Microsoft is involved in development and publishing of the title.

It's business. As I've grow in this role, and I've tried to learn the third-party exclusivity thing - and you see us doing less of it now - [I've found] it's not something I'm a huge fan of. Different kind of deals happen, and I know that's part of this business and maybe it'll be my failing in the end. But it's not something I specifically embrace with any deal that's out there, whether it's something else. It's just not something I can explicitly talk to.
