A new Kickstarter campaign has begun for the 16-bit throw back RPG, Pier Solar, to be released in High Definition on  Xbox 360, PC, Mac, Linux, and Dreamcast.

Pier Solar is a game that takes graphics and feel of 16-bit RPGs of yesteryear and provide a new story with original world and characters. Watermelon Co., developers of the game, are looking to create a game with over fifty hours of game play with various location, original soundtrack, and epic battles.

The has already been translated into five different languages and funding will be used to sharpen up the assets for the game. The game will make use of a style that combines sharp backgrounds with 16-bit sprites that give the game a unique combination of old and new graphical stylings.

More information can be found on their Kickstarter here and this looks like a unique spin on old school RPGs that many should check out and consider supporting.
