Explore the open sea and new lands in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire with pre-orders now available for the newly announced release date.

January 25, 2018

A few years ago, Obsidian ventured into their own D&D-like RPG world with Pillars of Eternity. It took what games like Neverwinter Nights and Baldur’s Gate were known for and applied it to their own world and lore to much success. The announcement of a sequel was later made and today, we finally have a release date for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire.

Obsidian took to Twitter, announcing that Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire would be launching on April 3, 2018. The accompanying gif shows the new, updated engine in all its splendor as well. A pre-order bonus was also announced, offering three new items to start the adventure with.

These items include St. Drogga’s Skull, crafted from a sabre and the skull of a martyr that causes slashing and burning damage; Beakhead the Hawk, an in-game pet; and a Black Flag, offering an additional ship customization option:

The game can be pre-ordered now with three versions available. The first version, offered at $49.99, is just the standard edition base game. The Deluxe Edition ($59.99) features the base game and the soundtrack, in-game pet, a special in-game item, Pillars of Eternity Pen & Paper RPG Starter Guide, a high-resolution game map, and the digital guidebook.

Finally, the Obsidian Edition (digital at $74.99) includes all of the previous goodies, plus the Deadfire DLC content packs in the form of a season pass. Of course, the physical version of the Obsidian Edition will run a bit higher at $79.99, but will also include a cloth map, notepad, and game-themed postcards. You can check out all the bundle options in the gallery below.

For those who have yet to dive into Obsidian’s own world, the original Pillars of Eternity is getting a Definitive Edition including the expansions and new DLC. Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire will be available on PC on April 3, 2018.
