Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is getting its final update to celebrate the game being out for a year. This update adds a few big changes as well as a final challenge for intrepid players to attempt. Take a look at the in-depth video developer Obsidian released below.

There are quite a few changes here, but the coolest one is "The Ultimate". This challenge requires you to turn on all other God Challenges, making the game incredibly difficult. In fact, the devs aren't even positive that the challenge can be completed.

If you are up to the task there are some real-world rewards waiting for you. The first twelve to finish the challenge will be immortalized at Obsidian forever via a plague that hangs in the company lobby. Your name, character's name, class, and level will be displayed for anyone who visits the studio to see. The first fifty players to complete "The Ultimate" will get a special patch sent to them.

That's not all this update includes though. Players will enjoy an updated ship UI that should make ship-on-ship encounters run much more smoothly and the team has implemented the turn-based mode the community has been clamoring for.

Obsidian has also gone back into the story and added new content to flesh out some things. Previously unanswered questions have been addressed, which should make the narrative much easier to follow. They've also adjusted parts of the Anarchist Path to make it slightly easier for players to get through.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is available now on Linux, Mac, and PC. The game is coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One later this year.
