Pixeljam’s Dino Run 2 Might Go Into Extinction After Failed Kickstarter Campaign
Not every Kickstarter campaign is a successful one, unfortunately Pixeljam’s retro-style platformer Dino Run 2, the sequel to Pixeljam Games’ side-scrolling extinction platformer, Dino Run did not reach its $175,000 goal in time. All 1,794 backers who contributed a total of $83,476 won’t be charged.
In an update from co-founder Miles Tillman, the developer explained that it’s unclear on whether or not the game will ever be made, citing that it,
depends on a few factors that are totally unknown right now. What we do know is that our beloved dinos will be waiting for perfect moment to re-appear from their sanctuary … how long that will take, or if it will happen at all, is anyone’s guess.
The game was planned for a December 2015 release on Linux, Mac, Ouya and PC with randomly generated levels, multiple dino characters to choose from and multiplayer options.
Whether the developers will try another funding avenue,
Maybe yes and maybe no. If it is, it will probably take a lot longer than it would if we got funded. We’ve been doing this for almost eight years though – we’ve learned the value of patience and careful planning. There are multiple ways to arrive at a goal.
While Dino Run 2 is a no-go for now Pixeljam has several games in the work, including a new version of Dino Run SE for Steam.
