Back in August, newly formed UK developer Imaginati Studios announced Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier, a cinematic adventure game that is set between the events of 2014's Dawn of Planet of Apes and this year's upcoming release of War for the Planet of Apes.

Fast-forward to today, and the aforementioned Imaginati Studios has released a new trailer for the game that highlights some of the morally and ethically challenging choices you will be presented with in the game, which will impact how the story plays out not only for the Apes, but for the Humans.

More specifically, the trailer introduces the backstory of one of the game's major characters: Khan, who must make the difficult decision of whether or not keep his family safe or to fight with Caesar.

For those that don't know: the game's story is a completely brand new tale that will be set in the Rocky Mountains and centered around a breakaway faction of apes who have taken refuge in the mountain range from the bloody and ongoing ape vs. human war. However, winter is approaching and food runs low, which forces the apes to descend into a human-owned valley. It is here where the ape troop and a band of human survivors will collide, and here where a variety of moral and ethic conundrums will be thrown your way.

In the game, players will take control of both a cast of apes and humans, who can live or die based on what decisions you make. As is common with decision-making narrative games: there is multiple endings.

Where Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier differs from many other games within the adventure genre is that the player's only input will be making decisions, meaning, there is no puzzles, explorations, or any direct control over the characters.

The game is said to take story cues from the popular film series: aiming to paint a conflict with no heroes or villains and no black or white decisions.

Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier is in development for PS4, PC, and Xbox One. It is slated to release sometime this fall. Below, you can check out the aforementioned trailer:
