PlanetSide 2 Announced, Promises To Be Even Bigger Than Its Predecessor

It’s been rumored for a while, and despite many issues with Sony Online Entertainment, PlanetSide 2 is now officially in development. The first PlanetSide is considered the first “true” MMOFPS, with 399 players on one, uninstanced map, and SOE promises that PlanetSide 2 will continue in the footsteps of its predecessor while expanding on it, featuring “huge war zones” with “thousands of players at once”, more customization options, and a persistent war between the three factions returning from the first game.

I’ve been interested in the original PlanetSide for a while since many consider it to be the only MMOFPS of quality, so this is looking quite promising. I wonder how it will stack up against Bungie’s supposed MMOFPS project if those rumors turn out to be true.
