Sony Online Entertainment announced yesterday that they will offer PlanetSide (the first game of the series, not the recent PlanetSide 2) for free this April when their All Access Pass becomes available “on or about April 2, 2014.”

For $14.99 a month, pass holders will obtain access to SOE’s games, replacing the existing $19.99 SOE All Access pass.

As posted in Sony’s FAQ forums, the developer noted there will be no further development on the game. In addition to this news, SOE also announced it has stopped development on Free Realms, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes and Wizardry Online.

Michele Cagle, Director of Global Communications stated,

At Sony Online Entertainment, we are always evaluating our portfolio to ensure we’re providing players with the best gameplay experiences. At times, as part of this commitment, we have to make the difficult decision to sunset a game so we can refocus our resources on other areas in the best interest of our company and player community.

Clone Wars Adventures and Free Realms will close on March 31st, while Vanguard and Wizardry will be shut down on July 31st.
