Plants vs. Zombies has always been known for its plant-inspired puns, and since EA clearly doesn't want to let "Grass Effect" go to waste in honoring the company's own Mass Effect series, they're taking that pun to a new level with a new mech coming in the series' latest game, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2.

During EA's briefing at Gamescom 2015 this morning, the company revealed several new details about Garden Warfare 2, with one highlight being the new "Z7" mech coming to the game inspired by Mass Effect and sure to please fans of BioWare's epic sci-fi series.

The Z7 mech will be available exclusively with pre-orders of Garden Warfare 2 at participating retailers.

In addition to the new "Mass Effect" inspired mech suit, EA and PopCap also revealed three new characters coming for the plant forces in Garden Warfare 2, such as Rose (a sorceress that transforms enemies to goats), Colonel Corn (blasting enemies with popcorn), and Citron (a fruity orange equipped with high-tech gear).

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 will release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in early 2016 - in the meantime, you can check out the full briefing on Garden Warfare 2 from Gamescom 2015 below:
