One Redditor combines the old with the new to create a unique-looking GameCube Switch dock.

It's no secret that Nintendo has invented a whole host of beloved consoles. From the original NES to the currently immensely popular Switch, they've established a line of consoles that have truly become household names.

However, have you ever wondered what combining an old generation console with a new generation console might look like? Well, look no further than Reddit user PrauxLaps's creation! They've breathed new life into an old GameCube, revamping it into a retro vaporwave-esque Switch dock.

GAMECUBE SWITCH DOCK - THE FULL CREATION PROCESS

Using a combination of clever electrical engineering, 3D printing, and a fresh coat of mint paint, gamer PrauxLaps completely transformed an old GameCube. The crafter bought the old console secondhand, still covered in its original marker-covered and grimey shell. With no cables, memory cards, controllers, or games to speak of, the GameCube was finally revitalized into something brighter and more modern.

After acquiring the GameCube, PrauxLaps cut it down using a dremel to get that perfect Switch dock shape. Gutting the old console to just its shell, they reconstructed it into a sturdier case for a dock. Even cooler, they utilized a 3D printer and drilled all the new parts together to give it an Arizona iced tea aesthetic.

All in all, PrauxLaps used roughly 25 hours just for 3D printing alone. It just goes to show that re-design and reconstruction of this level take their time - but it's obviously worth it for the end effect. They also further describe additional details to the dock:

Of course, the GameCube itself is now less of a game console than it originally was, but it still retains a few bits of its original construction. The dock contains a GameCube controller adapter, as well as 4 working USB ports. This allows any player to still use the dock as a sort of GameCube, via the Switch dock's usual functionality. Sure, it can't read game disks, but it can definitely play any GameCube game currently available in the Switch store.
