PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds to Add Vaulting and Climbing in Version 1.0
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will be testing out servers for the 1.0 version of the game coming later this year. The new update will be adding the ability to climb and vault.
Next week, for the first time, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will begin running test servers for the 1.0 version of the game. Players will be able to get their hands on the new vaulting and climbing mechanics that’ll make for a whole slew of new ways to go about eliminating your opponents.
Originally, players were only going to be able to scale objects that were one meter in height, but now that height has been increased to about 2.3 meters. Just about any static object in the game that meets the height requirement can be scaled. Objects that reach up to your chest can be scaled with a weapon in hand, and you’ll also be able to get into windows if they’re an appropriate size.
There’ll be around 40 different animations that’ll work depending on height and object size. For instance, if you’re running towards something you’ll be able to climb it fast, but if you’re standing still before climbing than you’ll move slower. Other changes in 1.0 will include server optimization, vehicle driving, and ballistics.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has achieved a slew of records on Steam. The game has reportedly sold over 15 million copies, and reached a concurrent player count of over 2 million. You can check out the title on PC right now, the game will also be coming to Xbox One later this year.
