PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on Xbox One has Already Surpassed 3 Million Players
Clearly, Xbox gamers were excited to get their hands on 2017's most talked about game.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has only been on Xbox One consoles as part of the Xbox Game Preview program for less than a month, but it already has a ballooning player base.
Today, PUBG Corp and Microsoft revealed that through the end of 2017, over three million people had played PUBG on the Xbox One. That’s impressive numbers for any game, let alone one that is still in the preview program.
We first reported last month that PUBG had reached over one million players within the first 48 hours after it was released on Xbox One. Clearly, that momentum carried through the remainder of the year as it reached three million players in a mere 19 days.
What might make these numbers most impressive however is that the Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has been rather unoptimized. Despite the bugs, lag, and texture pop-in issues that have frequently occurred for many users, the game’s community has continued to grow in size. That’s something you don’t typically see with a game that is plagued with so many faults out of the gate.
Of course, PUBG Corp has continued to release new updates for the game that are continuing to improve the stability and overall performance. Eventually, most content that has come to the PC version of PUBG, including the new Miramar map, will find its way over to Xbox One.
At this point, none of the numbers associated with PlayerUnkown’s Battlegrounds should surprise anyone. It was easily 2017’s most discussed game and that hype very much carried over to its release on Xbox One. As PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds continues to become more optimized on Microsoft’s console, it’ll be interesting to see if the player base continues to grow alongside it.
