PlayStation announced via the PlayStation Blog that a new PlayStation Communities app on iOS and Android will be launching today, making it easy to stay in touch with PlayStation 4 gamers while away from the console.

Designed as places where people can find other players who have similar interests and preferences, Communities let you join parties and launch into games with other members, or talk about shared interests.

In the app, players can also check out community profiles, view a list of communities they’re a member of, and see who else is in their community. It also provides recommendations based on the games they’ve played and highlights which communities are trending. Push notifications can also be enabled to stay up-to-date on posts and replies within the groups.

Players have been able to create a new Community or join a Community that already exists since the release of the system software update 3.0 for PlayStation 4.

Below you can check out two screenshots of the new app.
