Some of the exclusive content in Destiny 2: Forsaken for PlayStation 4 players has been detailed by developer Bungie today. Each class will receive a new armor set, a new Exotic weapon, a new ship, and a new Strike set in the Tangled Shore.
The new Exotic weapon is named Wavesplitter and comes from the makers of Coldheart, an Exotic Trace Rifle that released alongside Destiny 2 last September.
It’s the latest in City Age technology, using focused sonic waves to superheat electrons into a devastating energy beam (but good luck trying to use it as a musical instrument).
There are three power levels that you can use by holding the trigger down and will be shown to the player by the laser thickness, sound effects, and a meter on the weapon as it has three lights on the right side while aiming down the sights.
Players will also have access to Broodhold the new exclusive strike. Throughout you’ll be battling Hive Thralls, Acolytes, and Knights ending in a Hive Brood Queen. The Queen alternates between physical and shadow forms during the fight and has different abilities in each state. In her physical form keep to cover and while she is in shadow form keep moving to avoid being poisoned. There is a new gameplay video for this strike that you can watch in the video below with commentary by developers Steve Cotton and Del Chafe.
You can also view the new armor sets for the Warlock (Thorium Holt), Hunter (Red Moon Phantom), and Titan (Mimetic Savior) as well as the new ship, Great Beyond, in the image gallery.
Destiny 2: Forsaken launches next Tuesday, September 4, 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can pre-order your copy of the Destiny 2: Forsaken Collection here. Destiny 2’s base game is currently free to download as part of September’s PlayStation Plus titles and you can view the launch trailer for Forsaken in anticipation.
