Jez Corden, a primarily Xbox-focused journalist who's accurately leaked and reported many announcements before, recently made a particularly intriguing claim about the other side of the gaming sphere, PlayStation, stating that its parent company Sony "landed a deal" with Konami for exclusivity on future Silent Hill and Metal Gear games and "maybe even a new Castlevania."

One of these, we already know to be true. The upcoming Silent Hill 2 Remake, by well-known horror-game developer Bloober Team, has been confirmed as a PlayStation 5 console exclusive for at least a year following its launch (also coming to PC). Konami revealed numerous Silent Hill projects alongside said remake, though little is known about several of them, so, it could be that these will also be PlayStation 5 console exclusives and are therefore part of this reported deal, though that is still unclear.

Nothing is confirmed regarding future Metal Gear or Castlevania projects, however, a 2021 report from VGC claimed that Konami was working on reviving these two franchises alongside Silent Hill. VGC had claimed that there were multiple Silent Hill projects in the works, and they got it right, which lends credence to the rest of the report being accurate as well.

VGC claimed that a "reimagining" of Castlevania is in the works internally at Konami and that a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is being developed by Singaporean studio Virtuos. Adding to this rumor, just yesterday, Shpeshal_Nick, cohost of the Xbox Era podcast, claimed that this rumored remake will appear in PlayStation's next big showcase (whenever that may be).

Shpeshal_Nick stated that he heard that it "might also have some sort of exclusivity with it." Though Corden didn't confirm or corroborate the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake appearing in a PlayStation showcase, he did state that he'd heard similarly about the game's exclusivity for PlayStation 5.

It can't be denied that the various reports do line up. PlayStation already got an exclusivity deal with publisher Konami for Silent Hill 2 Remake, so, it's certainly possible for it to have acquired similar deals for some other Konami IP as well.

Furthermore, PlayStation might have been encouraged to shop for exclusives following Xbox's purchase of Bethesda, and its planned purchase of Activision (which is no longer looking too good, as per TheGamer). However, it's worth stating that these are still just rumors, that nothing is confirmed, and that we won't know for sure until Konami or PlayStation make an official announcement.
