Sony Computer Entertainment recently launched the “PlayStation Heroes” initiative and PS4 app in North America, prompting users to purchase special PS4 themes for charity and for a chance to play their favorite games with celebrities.
The initiative launched only in North America for the moment, but it might expand to other nations, as a trademark filed with the Japanese Patent and Trademark Office suggests:
Normally Sony doesn’t trademark in Japan promotional initiatives that aren’t intended for the archipelago of the Rising Sun. The Japanese audience is also particularly sensitive to celebrities, so the program is quite fitting to the local market.
While it’s hard to say which nations outside North America Sony could decide to target with the program, if you live somewhere else in the world and want to play games with your heroes while contributing to a good cause, there’s hope for you as well.
