Video game ads don't always knock it out of the park, but Sony's newest effort is one of the better ones I've seen. It's a fun mash-up of all your favorite PlayStation characters running throughout the real world. They've done stuff like this before, but it's always neat to see characters like Crash Bandicoot and Kratos in the same space together. Give the ad a watch below.

The ad starts off pretty tamely with short bits featuring some characters from Monster Hunter World, including an incredibly cute Palico. Next up is Crash drifting through a parking garage. Then the Fortnite bus picking up some passengers at a local bus stop. It continues on with some fun moments like Kratos taking a man's razor and giving him his ax in its place. There's also a weird moment Jadon Sancho and Virgil Van Dijk's virtual likenesses playing soccer. Because their game is so focused on realism, this shot just looks really off.

The ad ends with tons of PlayStation characters running through the street. Here, you can see Crash Bandicoot gazing lovingly up at a bicycle-riding Nathan Drake. Seeing those two Naughty Dog boys together again is a great moment.

With the PS4's all-time sales continuing to trend positively, this is a great ad for drumming up interest ahead of the holiday season. Sony recently announced that the PS4 has sold more than 100 million units so far. This puts it in second place all-time. First place might be a bit out of reach with the PS5 on the horizon. However, a strong 2019 holiday season will help them inch closer and closer.

If you're planning to pick up a PS4 this holiday, DualShockers recently updated our DualShockers Definitive list for the console. This list is a great starting point for anyone trying to decide which PS4 games they want to pick up.
