PlayStation Japan President Would Like the Tales Of Series to Evolve to PS4

The announcement of the next game in the Tales Of series Tales of Zestiria disappointed quite a few fans, especially in Japan, because the game is slated for release on PS3 and not on Sony’s upcoming PS4.

What caused many to believe that the upcoming game would be on PS4 was a video message by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Asia President Hiroshi Kawano aired just before the announcement, during which the PS4 was mentioned several times.

Unfortunately it wasn’t to be, at least for what Tales of Zestiria is concerned. What Kawano-san did say, after illustrating the evolution of the Tales Of series with PlayStation consoles, is that he’d like it to continue to evolve together with PS4.

Does this mean that he already knows about a further Tales Of game headed to Sony’s new console? It’s also possible that for now Tales of Zestiria has been announced only for PS3 for now, and a PS4 port could be announced down the line. Of course it’s not impossible that Kawano-san might have simply expressed a wish for the future with no immediate effects.

As usual we’ll have to wait and see. One thing is for sure: the PS4 needs a few good JRPGs, and needs them badly.
