With the recent revamp of PlayStation Plus, there are more games than ever to play with your Essential, Extra, or Premium subscription. The current game catalogue contains an incredible amount of varied, award-winning titles for you to choose from. Of course, sifting through all of these titles might be a little overwhelming at first.

With so many games to choose from, it can be hard to know where to begin the journey to your new favorite titles. The good news is that there are no wrong answers. The game catalogue offers everything from Assassin’s Creed to Wolfenstein, with many, many more in between. Let’s reflect on some of the best titles available for you to play right now.

10/10 Until Dawn

Until Dawn: Close-Up On Sam

Supermassive Games delivers frights and delights for fans of both thrillers and horror. Take control of eight young adults trying to survive until dawn while encountering all kinds of threats from without and within. While this is primarily a solo game, many players have found enjoyment in experiencing the game with friends.

With plenty of collectibles and a number of different possible outcomes, this game boasts a great amount of replay value for those who enjoy it. While the experience can be held back a bit by its B-movie vibes and some less-than-stellar quicktime events, it's still a gripping ride.

9/10 Days Gone

Days Gone Deacon And Sarah On Motorcycle

Bend Studio isn’t afraid to create a world that constantly threatens the player. Days Gone has become a bit of an underappreciated gem in the Sony lineup. However, Sam Witwer delivers a notable performance as Deacon St John, compelling the player to traverse an often beautiful and haunting open world.

Upgrading your motorcycle and unravelling the increasingly complex story of Days Gone makes for a memorable and satisfying experience. It may be held back by some repetitive gameplay and a lack of replay value, but there's a lot to love as well. The game offers hours upon hours of open world fun.

8/10 Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Uncharted The Lost Legacy: Chloe And Nadine Overlooking Nature

Naughty Dog set out to prove that the Uncharted franchise could flourish without Nathan Drake, and they were right. While some players may debate which series entry is the best, there’s no doubt that The Lost Legacy is a major contender.

With bombastic action and a thrilling adventure narrative, The Lost Legacy makes good on every promise that comes with the Uncharted label. Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross have the kind of on-screen chemistry and banter that longtime fans have come to expect. While the adventure is a great ride, it's also a relatively short one without much replay value.

7/10 Bloodborne

Bloodborne: Hunter Crouched In Front Of Gloomy Mansion

FromSoftware makes challenging games to say the least, and Bloodborne continues that trend. With fast combat and brutal weaponry, you as the player are challenged to make your way through a rich, beautiful, gothic setting where anything and everything can kill you.

This kind of gameplay demands a lot from the player, but on the other side of a brutal boss fight can be an incredible sense of accomplishment. While you can occasionally summon in a friend to help with a boss or group of enemies, you’ll still find these fights to be tough as nails. The brutal difficulty and lack of accessibility for some hold this title back just a bit.

6/10 Control: Ultimate Edition

Control: Jesse Floating Using Telekinesis

Remedy Entertainment creates games with incredible atmosphere, and Control is no exception. With telekinetic abilities and an ever-shifting firearm at your side, Jesse is tasked with becoming the director of a mysterious organization known as The Federal Bureau of Control.

As Jesse, you’ll spend much of your time exploring the Oldest House and solving the problems of other characters in the game. Every bit of information, every scrap of paper, is meant to fill in a little bit of the mystery surrounding the place, the people, and the inter-dimensional enemy known as The Hiss. Unfortunately, some of the story is almost too good at hiding itself in what most players might consider to be optional material, and the PS4 performance is lacking.

5/10 God of War

God Of War: Kratos And Atreus Hunting Boar

Santa Monica Studios set out to revamp Kratos, the titular God of War, from an unstoppable killing machine to someone a little more thoughtful, and they did it very well. While Kratos is every bit as powerful and threatening, he’s also mindful and strategic. He isn’t just a soldier in this story; he’s a father and a teacher as well.

As you travel, the characters will often pepper in stories for you to listen to. The combat is fun and, at times, utterly brutal. However, these moments of high action and dynamic violence are tempered with quiet reflection and a story about a father coming to terms with his past while looking toward a future with his son. It's a great title held back only by the fact that it doesn't quite break new ground outside of the story.

4/10 Death Stranding: Director’s Cut

Death Stranding: Sam Hiking Snow-Capped Mountains

Kojima Productions, headed by Hideo Kojima, slowly teased Death Stranding for years, keeping the audience guessing what the mysterious game would be about. Well, the answers still aren’t so simple. You play as Sam Porter Bridges and you’re tasked with reconnecting large portions of The United States following an apocalyptic event.

Much of your journey will take place navigating hazardous terrain with your BB, a baby in a pod attached to your suit. While many would say this is a game about delivering packages (and you’ll deliver a lot of packages), the gameplay loop is strangely addictive. The story will keep you curious and, in the end, the theme of connection is pervasive throughout both the story and the gameplay. While it's a great title, it won't be for everyone. Plenty of players find the story to be too obtuse and the traversal to be tedious.

3/10 Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut

Ghost Of Tsushima: Jin Running Through Beautiful Field Of Flowers

Sucker Punch went to great lengths to bring Tsushima to life, and their efforts created one of the best PlayStation exclusives yet seen. If you’re a fan of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, you’ll no doubt find a lot to love in the combat and collectibles of Ghost of Tsushima.

For lovers of photo modes in gaming, you’ll find one of the best ever created. With a beautiful open world that begs to be captured, photo mode beckons you to slow down and appreciate the scenery. For fans who want an experience similar to classic movies, Kurosawa mode allows you to play the entire game with subtitles and a black and white film aesthetic. A slight lack of variety in collectibles and a somewhat predictable main story are the only things keeping this from the number one spot on this list.

2/10 Marvel’s Spider-Man

Marvel's Spider-Man Selfie Of Spider-Man

Insomniac Games took on the task of creating a Spider-Man game and nailed it in just about every way. Not only did they create a vibrant New York City to swing through, but they also crafted one of the best Peter Parker stories ever told. Whether you’re familiar with Spider-Man’s story or not, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Whether you’re swinging through the city with incredible speed or fighting enemies with creative, snappy, intuitive combat, it’s hard not to have a good time playing the webheaded crime fighter. With collectibles, side quests, and spontaneous events popping up around the city, this game gives you plenty to do without overstaying its welcome. A major PlayStation Plus highlight.

1/10 Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 Arthur Morgan And Sadie Adler On Horseback

Rockstar Games delivered a masterpiece to fans new and old with this prequel to the original Red Dead Redemption. Arthur Morgan is a deep and intriguing protagonist, and the player is given the ability to handle situations how they wish. Red Dead Redemption 2 isn’t just the best Western game ever made; it’s perhaps even one of the best Westerns told in any medium.

While the main story will keep you engaged and moving along your journey, fans of big open worlds will find no shortage of things to do. From getting into gunfights, playing cards, hunting wildlife, and fishing all over the map, this game truly brings the old west to life. Hours upon hours of fun and one of the most immersive experiences imaginable make this an easy choice for PlayStation Plus' top title.
