There has been a lot of criticism around Sony's PlayStation Plus subscription service, mostly for the cost-to-reward ratio being a bit off. Sure, there has been some good stuff here and there, but for the most part it has been rather mediocre. That may all be changing this month. Check out the list of snazzy stuff you'll have access to free or before non-subscribers.

  • Double Fine's Stacking will be completely free throughout the month of February to PlayStation Plus subscribers (for non-subscribers, it will cost $14.99). This is one of the most unique titles to come along in quite some time.
  • PlayStation Plus subscribers will have access to the Killzone 3 single-player demo before anyone else.
  • Yakuza 4 will have a demo coming out later this month, and PS Plus subscribers will get to play it a week before anyone else.
  • There are also other demos, PlayStation Minis, avatars and premium themes that will be available free of charge to PlayStation Plus subscribers throughout the month, as usual.

All this more than makes up for a one-month subscription, for sure, and if Sony keeps this level of content up for the service, maybe it won't receive so much criticism down the line. Just keep in mind that the one downside still hangs heavy over everyone's head - if you let your subscription lapse, you lose all the games and goodies you picked up while you were a subscriber.
