Sony will be hosting a PlayStation Showcase livestream next week to “look into the future of the PS5.”

The event will take place on Thursday, September 9 at 4 pm ET, 1 pm PT and 9 pm BST and will last roughly 40 minutes. Sony likely has a few things to show PS5 owners, otherwise, such a livestream would be unnecessary. The PS5 console’s reveal was during a similar event, so we expect Sony might provide an update about the hardware itself.

Although according to them, this particular event will provide news from "some of the industry's most imaginative developers" about games releasing in 2021 "and beyond." You can view Sony’s tweet for yourself below.

5 PS5 GAMES WE HOPE TO SEE AT THE PLAYSTATION SHOWCASE

The PS5 has an impressive array of exclusive games in development. Here’s what we’re hoping to see more of on September, 9.

GOD OF WAR RAGNAROK

It’s no secret that a sequel to God of War (2018) is in development and due for release in 2022. However, so far, we know very little about Kratos and his son’s next adventure. The title of Ragnarok is also unconfirmed.

But based on the cliff-hanger ending of the last game, we suspect Kratos will once again be indulging his Spartan rage in another violent bout of deicide. Only this time against the Norse pantheon. Here’s hoping we see an official trailer at the PlayStation Showcase.

HORIZON FORBIDDEN WEST

The sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn is shaping up nicely from what we’ve seen from the trailers. However, production has suffered during the pandemic, leading to Guerrilla delaying the game until February 18, 2022.

Horizon Forbidden West is one of the PS5’s biggest upcoming exclusives, so we expect Sony will want to feature it at the PlayStation Showcase. Perhaps a new gameplay demo or trailer will drop at the event?

KENA: BRIDGE OF SPIRITS

This PlayStation exclusive from Ember Lab is due for release on September 23, 2021. Therefore, one final trailer (and marketing push) from Sony makes sense.

We wouldn’t be surprised if more gameplay or a final trailer drops during the livestream next week.

DEATH’S STRANDING DIRECTORS CUT

This PS4 game receives its PS5 update on September 24, 2021, with remastered graphics and additional content. Like Kena, it makes sense for Sony to remind PS5 owners that this is only a matter of weeks away during the livestream.

GRAN TURISMO 7

The rather stunning Forza Horizon 5 has been hogging all the hype where racing games are concerned in recent months. It’s about time Sony fought back with Gran Turismo 7.

Slated for a 2022 release, GT7 is likely to really show off what the PS5 can do graphically, and anticipation is high. An update about this exclusive seems to be on the cards at some point soon so why not at the next PlayStation Showcase?
